Another year, another one bites the dust

I'm drifting though the embers of my collapsing relationship.

He'd say it went out with a bang, an argument so explosive as to blunt the memory of the happiness and fun that has passed before.

I'm not so sure. I think it's been burning away for some time, and this last week has stoked the flames just enough to burn to the ground.
